The Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality is now accepting submissions for Volume 14, to be published in Summer 2026. We invite scholars, practitioners, and advanced law students to submit full-length, academic articles that critically engage with contemporary legal issues through the lens of social justice.
This volume seeks to publish rigorous legal scholarship that not only addresses doctrinal and theoretical questions, but also centers on how law can be used as a tool for—or a barrier to—equity, inclusion, and systemic change. We are especially interested in pieces that explore the intersection of U.S. law with race, gender, class, disability, immigration status, LGBTQ+ rights, Indigenous sovereignty, environmental justice, labor rights, and other areas where legal frameworks impact historically marginalized communities.
Submissions may analyze recent case law, legislative developments, administrative policies, legal history, or emerging legal movements. Interdisciplinary approaches and empirical research are welcome, provided the core argument remains grounded in legal analysis.
Guidelines
Length: Submissions should be between 15,000 and 30,000 words, including footnotes.
Format: Citations must conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed.).
Originality: Articles must be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere at the time of submission.
Focus: Articles must primarily address U.S. law and incorporate a clear social justice component.
How to Submit
Please submit your manuscript in Word or PDF format via Scholastica or by email to ijlseae@iu.edu, along with a brief abstract (250 words or fewer).
Deadline
We are accepting articles on a rolling basis until all slots for Volume 14 are full.
